Dr. Wolkenfeld completed her doctoral degree at Long Island University with specialized training in psychodynamic treatment and conducted extensive research in the areas of empathy and mindfulness.  Dr. Wolkenfeld spent several years at the prestigious Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City providing individual outpatient psychotherapy to children and adolescents of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, as well as sexual orientations.  Her patients presented with a wide range of major psychiatric disorders and learning disabilities. While at Mt. Sinai, Dr. Wolkenfeld also provided family therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as conducted extensive neuropsychological evaluations and assessments. 

Prior to her work at Mt. Sinai, Dr. Wolkenfeld was with the New York City Children’s Center (formerly the Bronx Children’s Psychiatric Center).  During her tenure, she conducted individual, group, and family psychotherapy in an in-patient setting with patients suffering from severe and chronic psychiatric disorders.  Dr. Wolkenfeld was part of a multidisciplinary team, which oversaw all aspects of treatment and healthcare. 

Most recently, Dr. Wolkenfeld provided outpatient psychotherapist to children and adolescents at the Child Guidance Center (CGC) of Southern Connecticut.  While at CGC, Dr. Wolkenfeld has specialized in a wide array of high risk and complex cases and has been a member of the Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Service (EMPS).  Dr. Wolkenfeld also served as a psychological testing supervisor to several psychology interns. 

Dr. Wolkenfeld earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Long Island University and her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Skidmore College.  She is a member of the American Psychological Association and is an active member of the Association for Psychological Science.
